Building Cultural Bridges: Eagles Football Academy Launches Romanian Language Courses for Diaspora Children
Eagles Football Academy in London, founded ten years ago by former Romanian footballer Gabi Dumitru, is expanding its role in the community by launching Romanian language courses for children of Romanian heritage in the diaspora. This initiative is supported through funding from the Department for Romanians Abroad as part of its commitment to preserving the cultural and linguistic identity of Romanians outside Romania.
These classes provide children with the opportunity to learn Romanian through vocabulary and grammar lessons, as well as interactive activities that delve into Romanian literature, history, and traditions. “These courses are more than just language lessons; they create a bridge between Romanian children in the diaspora and Romanian culture,” stated Gabi Dumitru, the academy’s founder.
For Romanian children growing up in an international environment, this initiative is a valuable way to stay connected with Romania, reinforcing a strong multicultural identity.
Beyond athletic training, Eagles Football Academy is becoming a cultural anchor for Romanian children in London, providing them with a well-rounded educational platform and a meaningful connection to their heritage.
