The newest member of the coaching staff at Eagles Football Academy, Adrian Sălăgeanu, spoke for our fan base about the way him and Gabriel Dumitru got in contact, before agreeing on a lucrative deal. In the secon part of the interview, Sălăgeanu also told us about the qualifications and degrees he obtained in Spain, where he officially started his coaching career. From 2020, he is looking at new highs alongside the family he found in London, at the Eagles “nest”.

Adrian, please tell us how did you cope with the isolation caused by the pandemic.
Basically, I took some time off and stayed locked indoors. I was pulling weights all day long and studied for my coaching degrees. It was a time of personal achievements for me and I also had time for my hobbies. Of course, it wasn’t easy from a social persepctive, but i tried to keep positive and focused. It’s really the only way you can approach this situation.

How did the talks with Eagles started?
I always kept in contact with Gabi Dumitru throughout my career. Life took us on different paths, unfortunately, but I’m sure he followed my career. Sometimes we spoke on the phone, on birthdays, but never about the posibility of working together. In one of the talks we had this year I took the initiative and it tooks us two seconds to reach an agreement. I know he wants to surround himself with valuable football people, that are passionate and dedicated about their work. I followed the Academy’s activity and I know it’s going to be a real pleasure working here. I hope I’ll live up to his standards, because he’s a very demanding coach (laughs).

How would you describe Gabi Dumitru, in a few words?
I’ll tell you something. He always had a different philosophy and approach in football, I felt that sincer I was a youngester. He came to Olimpia Satu Mare from Lintești when I was about 13-14 years old. We go way back! He was very meticulous and careful to some details that other coaches didn’t care about. He had a modern vision ever since then. Also, his training methods contained new and professional elements, which we enjoyed a lot. He knows how to motivate his players, to get the best out of their potential and I guess this is a vital thing in coaching. Mr. Dumitru is a well rounded teacher, but also a great technician. He always makes your want to improve and the players’ development is a process that never ends for him. It’s probably a reason why he enjoys such a great success with the Academy.

În partea a doua a interviului acordat de fostul internațional, acesta ne-a dezvăluit cum a ajuns în tratative cu Eagles Football Academy, după o perioadă de “acumulări” în Spania, unde a studiat și a obținut diplome și certificate de antrenorat. Din 2020, fostul fotbalist este gata pentru un “restart” în viața sa profesională! Iata ce ne-a spus, in partea a doua a interviului său.

Adrian, spune-ne cum ai gestionat perioada de izolare provocată de pandemie.
Mi-am luat liber și am stat închis în casă. Practic, trăgeam de fiare toată ziua și studiam. A fost o perioadă de acumulări, în care am avut timp să mă ocup și de hobby-urile mele. Sigur că nu a fost ușor din anumite puncte de vedere, dar am încercat să rămân pozitiv și motivat.

Cum ai ajuns în discuții cu Eagles?
Eu am ținut legătura cu Gabi Dumitru tot timpul, dar viața ne-a dus pe cărări diferite. Sunt convins că mi-a urmărit toată cariera, am mai vorbit uneori, la zile de naștere, dar niciodată despre o posibilă colaborare. Într-una din ultimele discuții avute în acest an am luat inițiativa și în secunda doi ne-am înțeles. Știu că el vrea să se înconjoare cu oameni de fotbal pasionați și dedicați. Am urmărit activitatea Academiei și știu că o să lucrez cu deosebită plăcere. Sper să mă ridic la înălțimea așteptărilor lui, fiindcă e un antrenor exigent (râde).

Cum l-ai caracteriza pe Gabi Dumitru ca antrenor?
Să știi că el a avut dintotdeauna o filosofie foarte diferită, am resimțit-o de când eram junior. El a venit de la Lintești la Olimpia Satu Mare când eu avea 13-14 ani, deci ne știm de foarte mult timp. Era foarte meticulos și atent la detalii, iar pregătirea lui conținea elemente moderne și profesioniste în adevăratul sens al cuvântului. Știe să-și motiveze elevii pentru a scoate cel mai bun randament din ei, cred că asta e cel mai important până la urmă. E un pedagog adevărat, dar și un tehnician. Te face mereu să îți dorești să fii mai bun! Acesta, probabil, este unul dintre secretele performanțelor Academiei sale.
